FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: method for routing IP-packets when using VPLS in conjunction with DHCP in a packet-switched network. The network includes client computers located in the client networks; border routers. Each client network is connected to its edge router through a given interface, which forms the default gateway; a DHCP server located in one of the client networks. Each edge router contains a processing means configured to: compare the IP-addresses contained in the frames of the request; modify the request frames by adding or deleting data; replace the IP-addresses contained in the request frames. The request is sent from the client computer to obtain the IP-address of the interface and the default gateway IP-address to the edge router of its client network. The request contains a set of frames; a DHCP record options. The request is sent from the edge router of the client network containing the client computer to the edge router located on the client network of the DHCP server. The request is sent from the edge router located on the DHCP server of the client network to the DHCP server. The response is formed in the DHCP server as a set of frames. The DHCP server response is sent to the edge router located on the DHCP server of the client network. The received DHCP server response is processed in the edge router processing means by performing the following actions: it is verified, whether the information in the frames contains any route that has the default gateway IP-address as the default gateway IP-address of the said edge router. If coincidence was detected, the response is modified by adding a mark to the frame. The DHCP server response is sent from the edge router located in the client DHCP server network to the edge router of the client network, where the client computer that sent the request is located. The DHCP server response is processed in the client's boundary edge router processing tool, from which the request is sent, performing the following actions: it is checked, if the information in the frames contains a mark. If the mark is present, the following actions are performed: in each case, when the route is specified in the information available in the frames, the default gateway IP-address of the edge router of the client network is replaced, in which the DHCP server is located, to the default gateway IP-address of the client network edge router, from which the request issent; the mark is deleted from the DHCP server response. The DHCP server response is sent from the front-end router of the client network, from which the request is sent, to the client computer that sent the request; the DHCP server response is received in the client computer that sent the request.
EFFECT: simplifying the routing configuration, reducing the load on the DPLS service and in general on the network, eliminating the restrictions on the location and implementing the DHCP server.
