FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: composition comprises: (a) a vinylidenechloride/methyl acrylate interpolymer having more than 6 wt % of methyl acrylate monomer units in the interpolymer; (b) more than 6 wt % of epoxy plasticiser; and (c) from 0.5 to 4 wt % of the acrylate polymer. The composition has a crystallization time of more than 25 minutes during crystallization at 35°C, measured by a differential scanning calorimeter, and the composition has an oxygen transmission rate of 1.5 to 15.0 cm3mil/100 inch2ati.day, measured in accordance with ASTM D 3985 at 50% of the relative humidity and 23°C.
EFFECT: films made from the present composition show improved processability and barrier properties for food packaging.
