METHOD TO DETERMINE LUBRICATING OILS FLASH TEMPERATURE Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N25/52 G01N33/30

Abstract RU 2640318 C1

FIELD: testing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the determination technology of the lubricating oils flash temperature without use of burning fumes, and can be used in evaluation of the commercial and operating lubricating oils performance characteristics. According to the declared solution the lubricating oil samples of constant mass are maintained to thermostat control at atmospheric pressure without stirring, at least at two temperatures below the flash temperature over time, ensuring the evaporation of the specified minimum mass of the lubricating oil. At the same time, the thermostat control sample is weighed in the equal intervals of testing and the mass of the evaporated lubricating oil is determined. The thermostat control is continued until the specified weight of the evaporated lubricating oil at each temperature. The graphical charts of the evaporated lubricating oil mass from the thermostat control time and temperature are plotted, according to which determine the time to reach the set value of the evaporated lubricating oil mass at two temperatures. The time to reach the set value of the evaporated lubricating oil mass at temperatures higher than accepted ones is determined by the calculation method. Determine the decimal logarithms of time to reach the evaporated lubricating oil mass values accepted, plot the graphical chart of time decimal logarithms to reach the set evaporated lubricating oil mass from the thermostat control range, and the flash temperature is determined by the intersection of the above-mentioned dependencies with the axis of abscissa.

EFFECT: flash temperature determination accuracy increase.
