FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transport machine building and can be used in the construction of vehicles, taking into account the requirements of active and passive safety. Steering column includes a portion of steering shaft 4 introduced into interior 1 having thrust sleeve 3 disposed in support 4 fixed to deformable bracket 5 in the front part of body 6. Upper part 8 of steering shaft is connected to hub 9 of steering wheel 10 by an energy absorbing device in the form of rolling diaphragm, while the ends of the steering shaft and the hub on opposite sides are inserted with interference and fixation into inwardly turned ends 11 and 12 of the rolling diaphragm 13, tightly inserted inside rigid metal tube 14.
EFFECT: higher safety is provided.
