FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry, in particular to a process for the preparation of ethoxysuccinic acid. Proposed method involves the preparation of ethoxysuccinic acid by treatment of maleic anhydride with ethyl alcohol in the presence of aluminum ethylate in an ethyl alcohol or xylene medium. Resulting aluminum salt of ethoxysuccinic acid ethyl ester is hydrolyzed according to a known scheme. Desired product is isolated by extraction with hot 1,2-dichloroethane.
EFFECT: method for the preparation of ethoxysuccinic acid is proposed.
