FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a pyridine base or its alkyl derivatives in high yield. Method comprises reacting C2–C5 aldehyde C3–C5 ketone or combination thereof with ammonia and optionally with formaldehyde in gas phase and in the presence of an effective amount of catalyst in the form of solid particles, which contains a zeolite selected from the group consisting of ZSM-5, ZSM-11 and combinations thereof, zinc, a binder and clay, and the ratio of Lewis acids to Bronsted (L/B) of said catalyst ranges from 1.5 to 4.0. Invention also relates to a catalyst and a method for increasing its catalytic activity.
EFFECT: ensuring high yield of pyridine base and high catalyst activity.
