SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to methods and systems for producing a stabilized emulsion and recovering a hydrocarbonaceous material from a subterranean formation. Method for recovering a hydrocarbonaceous material, comprising: combining a plurality of amphiphilic nanoparticles, containing a carbon core selected from the group consisting of at least one of the following materials: carbon nanotubes, nanodiamonds, graphite, graphene, graphene oxide, fullerenes and bulbous fullerenes, wherein the amphiphilic nanoparticles comprise hydrophilic functional groups on the surface of said carbon core and hydrophobic functional groups on another surface of said carbon core, with a carrier fluid comprising water or brine, to form a slurry, bringing at least one of a subterranean formation or pulp containing bituminous sand and water into contact with said slurry to form an emulsion stabilized with amphiphilic nanoparticles, and recovery of hydrocarbons from said emulsion stabilized by amphiphilic nanoparticles. Slurry for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation, comprising a plurality of amphiphilic nanoparticles, containing carbon core containing at least one of the following materials: carbon nanotubes, nanodiamonds, graphite, graphene, graphene oxide, fullerenes and bulbous fullerenes, hydrophobic functional groups on the surface of said carbon core and hydrophilic functional groups on the other surface of said carbon core and a carrier fluid containing water or brine. Invention is developed in dependent items of the formula.
