FIELD: printing equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal printing devices, such as, for example, printers. In the method, the thermal printing mechanism includes printer case (2), thermal print head (1), support roller (3), having conductive shaft (6), drive elements (11) for rotating support roller (3), and two lateral current contacts located on printer housing (2), so as to be directly or indirectly in contact with two opposite ends of conductive shaft (6) of the support roller to conduct an electric current, thus forming an electrical switch. At least one dielectric part of one end of conductive shaft (6) interacts with one of the two side conductive contacts, or at least one dielectric element, mounted on said one end of conductive shaft (6), can be designed in such a way as to produce opening or closing of the switch during rotation of support roller (3).
EFFECT: simplifying the design of the printer, reducing the size and cost reduction.
