FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy. Steel strip (1) is poured in a semi-continuous casting machine. Steel is poured into open-ended mold (2) closed by a cold strand, forming a completely solidified strip start and subsequently a semi-solidified strip which is extracted from the mold. Semi-solidified strip is cooled in secondary cooling zone (4) when guiding it in strip guide (3). Until complete solidification the strip is cooled in tertiary cooling zone (5) in which the thermal isolation for managed and controlled cooling is installed.
EFFECT: reduced segregation and porosity in the central part of the strip at high casting speed is provided.
