FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neutron emitters. Device comprises composite mirror neutron guide, part of which is made of pure graphite and connected on both sides by neutron guides made of copper. Active zone is placed on the inner surface of a graphite neutron guide, which is made in the form of a comb with uranium-235 (heterogeneous system) arranged between the crests of the thin-layer annular layers. Thickness of graphite after the first and subsequent layers of uranium-235 is chosen sufficient to slow down neutrons to energy, at which intensive absorption of neutrons with uranium-235 takes place. Inside the core with uranium-235 there is a cadmium rod arranged in a tube of pure graphite to control the number of neutrons participating in the chain reaction. To initiate a chain reaction on an inner surface of a copper neutron guide having a taper along the entire length and connected to a graphite neutron guide, there are ring elements made of beryllium and isotope 211At or 227Ac, between which a disk with slots is arranged (interrupter). On the other side of the core, a crystalline lead monochromator and a cobalt mirror in electromagnet windings are installed inside the copper neutron guide.
EFFECT: portability of a single-pass amplifier of collimated monochromatic polarized neutrons.
