FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 7-chloro-1,3-dihydro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one. Method involves condensation of 5-chloro-2-methyl-aminobenzophenone with chloroacetyl chloride at temperature of 72–78 °C in tetrachloromethane carbon medium, reacting obtained 2-benzoyl-2',4-dichloro-N-methylacetanilide with hexamethylenetetramine in isopropyl alcohol medium at temperature of 78–82 °C.
EFFECT: method enables to reduce duration of the process, minimize the number of steps, simplify the used process equipment, eliminate hazardous reagents and can be used on an industrial scale.
