SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a composition obtained from wood plants for use in treating at least one urologic symptom or disease in a human or animal, pharmaceutical composition and method of treating at least one urologic symptom or disease in a human or animal in need thereof. Composition obtained from woody plants contains galactoglucomannan (GGM), xylans and pectins, where GGM make at least 80 % of total carbohydrate content in the composition. Above urological symptom or disease is selected from a group consisting of chronic non-bacterial prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, obstructive urination, increased frequency of urination during daytime, nocturia, urinary incontinence, sensation of urgency of urination, intermittent, slow, split or splashing jet of urine, slow urination, difficult beginning of urination, painful difficulty urinating and urine release by drops at the end of urination, incomplete emptying of urinary bladder, urine leakage after urination, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, urogenital pain and bladder pain. What is also presented is a pharmaceutical composition for treating a urologic symptom and / or disease in a human or animal, containing an effective amount of a composition produced from woody plants and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
EFFECT: composition obtained from wood plants or pharmaceutical composition containing it can be used in a method of treating at least one urological symptom or disease in a human or animal in need of treatment.
