FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a fire-retardant thermoplastic polymer molding composition. Said composition contains a) 0.1 to 99.8 wt. % of at least one thermoplastic polymer, b) from 0.1 to 99.9 wt. % of at least one thermoplastic polyester containing 1,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]ethanone units, c) from 0.1 to 50 wt. % of at least one fire-retardant additive, d) from 0 to 25 wt. % of at least one fire-retardant synergist, different from component c), e) from 0 to 60 wt. % of glass fibers, f) from 0 to 30 wt. % of at least one additional additive. Said thermoplastic polyester is based on one aromatic dicarboxylic acid, 1,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]ethanone and on one aliphatic C2-C12-diole as monomers. Molar ratio of 1,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]ethanone to diol ranges from 0.1:0.9 to 0.95:0.05.
EFFECT: obtained fire-retardant composition has improved fire-retardant characteristics, as well as reduced amount of fire-retardant additives and fire-retardant synergetics, such as phosphine acid metal salts, melamine derivatives and metal oxides.
