SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composite product and a method for production thereof. Composite product contains a thermally modified component from solid wood, at least one side of which is coated with a layer of composite material containing thermally modified cellulose material and polymer. Method comprises providing a thermally modified component of solid wood, providing a composite material containing thermally modified cellulose material and polymer, feeding composite material to an extruder, passing a modified component of whole wood through an extruder and applying a layer of composite material to form a coating layer on at least one side of the solid wood component while passing through the extruder.

EFFECT: invention provides a composite product of solid wood, coated with a fibre-polymer layer, having improved properties, such as reduced susceptibility to creep and improved adhesion between the polymer coating and the solid wood component, as well as production of the product in an easy and effective manner.
