FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, particularly to quantitative determination of novocaine. Disclosed is a method for quantitative determination of novocaine, involving treatment of the analyzed sample with an organic reagent and sodium dodecyl sulphate, adding a citrate buffer solution, photometry and determining novocaine content from a calibration curve, characterized in that the organic reagent used is an aqueous solution of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde obtained by dispersing it in a sodium dodecyl sulphate solution, adding the obtained mixture of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and sodium dodecyl sulphate to analyzed sample in amount of 4⋅10-4–2⋅10-3 M and 3⋅10-3–1.4⋅10-2 M respectively, and after adding citrate buffer solution in addition to sample is added water-micellar solution of Triton X-114 in amount of 2⋅10-3–1⋅10-2 M and saturated solution of sodium chloride in amount of 0.5–1.0 M, after which micellar-saturated phase is separated by centrifugation and diluted with citrate buffer solution, wherein citrate buffer solution is used with acidity of 2.5–3.5.
EFFECT: invention provides high sensitivity of determining novocaine by reducing its detection limit.
