SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method in a network node for encoding bits of control information of transmission of High-Speed Shared Control Channel (HS-SCCH) downlink signaling, comprising steps of: determining that channel conditions are below a threshold level; in response to determining that the channel conditions are below a threshold level, performing at least one of: encoding one or more HS-SCCH control information bits as the predetermined control information bits in the downlink control channel transmission and encoding the shorter number of bits of the HS-SCCH control information in the downlink control channel transmission by eliminating one or more HS-SCCH control information bits, wherein one or more excluded bits of HS-SCCH control information are predetermined control information bits; and transmitting encoded HS-SCCH control information bits to user equipment.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of network coverage without increasing power.
