SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a mould cooling system for a machine for forming glass articles, a method of cooling moulds for forming glass articles. Mould cooling system for machine for forming glass articles comprises support frame of machine, frame for supporting mechanisms, located on upper part of support frame of machine and intended for installation of billet forming stations mechanisms, mould retention mechanism for billet forming station. Said mechanism includes half-moulds to displace between closed and open positions of mould to release article. Each of half-moulds has axial channels for cooling. Machine support frame includes a chamber of increased pressure for supply of cooling flow for each of half-mould axial channels. High pressure chamber has first upper plate including first and second groups of holes. Cooling tubes are arranged through each of holes of the first group with possibility of sliding in them with movement upwards or downwards. Second upper plate is located above first top plate, has outlet hole aligned with upper end of cooling tube, allowing to pass cooling flow of high pressure chamber through outlet hole. Second upper plate, cooling tubes and cylinder-piston assembly or bottom mechanism are made with possibility of joint movement on first top plate. Lifting mechanism is connected in lower part of cylinder-piston assembly or located below mechanism to adjust height of second upper plate, cylinder-piston assembly or mechanism located below and cooling tubes in accordance with height of each half-mould. Means of distributing the cooling flow are located above the second upper plate, have a lower frame aligned with each outlet of the second upper plate and an outlet end of the cooling tube, and an upper part combined with each of the axial channels of the half-moulds. Cooling flow distribution means are configured to move between the mould closed and open positions to release said article. Cooling tubes continuously supply cooling flow through each outlet. Method of cooling moulds of a machine for forming glass articles includes a system.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of mould cooling.
