SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recognition systems using artificial neural networks. Cash system of the public catering enterprise for identification of courses on a tray contains memory, an image capturing device and a data processing device. Data processing device has a video data acquisition module, an image analysis module, a module for detecting separate objects, a module for identifying courses, a module for calculating costs and a display module. Method for identifying courses on a tray comprises steps of obtaining video data from an image capturing device in real time, analyzing the obtained video data, determining on the obtained tray image with food separate dishware objects, performing identification using an artificial neural network of all courses, method includes obtaining from the course database the cost of each identified course and counting the total cost of all courses, displaying the obtained total cost on the screen. Increased speed and accuracy of identification of all courses on tray.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of speed and accuracy of identification of all courses on tray due to use of at least one artificial neural network.
