SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for managing a graphical interface. Method of controlling an application program comprises the following actions. Displaying a first user interface comprising a plurality of application icons; receiving touch input from a user; determining an application program to be started. In response to the touch input, displaying a processing interface containing one or more icons associated with the application program when there is an unprocessed update task for the application program, wherein the display area of the processing interface covers at least part of the display area of the first user interface. In response to the touch input, displaying on the first user interface a second user interface, different from processing interface, when application program does not have unprocessed update task, wherein second user interface corresponds to predetermined control operation, wherein the predetermined control operation is a selectable task in the application interface of application when the application program is started.

EFFECT: technical result is simplification of user interaction with program interface.
