REUSABLE DEVICE FOR POSITIONING BRACHYTHERAPY NEEDLES Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B10/02 A61M36/04

Abstract RU 2742239 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment and is intended for conducting interstitial radiation therapy and diagnosis of malignant tumours by biopsy. Reusable apparatus for positioning brachytherapy needles comprises two flat elements arranged in parallel to each other, with through channels of circular cross-section, markers on outer surface of one of elements, identifying channels, and coupling parts for coaxial comparison of elements channels and connection to apparatus. Between the elements there is a flat insert with through channels for needle fixation, which are identical to channels in elements, with the possibility of its movement parallel to internal surfaces of elements and its fixation. Elements and insert are made from metal by additive method with density of channels of not less than 25 per square centimetre and diameter from 1.05 to 3.6 of diameter of needle.

EFFECT: using the invention enables implantation in any point of an operated region with high accuracy of positioning during interstitial radiation therapy and diagnosing small pelvic areas.
