FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in power engineering to increase sensitivity of protection of electric installations against short circuits. Method of increasing sensitivity of a reed switch with a control winding consists in that current is supplied from a power source through connecting wires to a reed switch control winding, continuously measuring current in connecting wires, comparing it with first and second current standards, if current in connecting wires is less or equal to first reference current, then signal is sent on damage of connecting wires or control winding, if current in connecting wires is more or equal to second reference current, then current supply is stopped in reed switch control winding and signal is sent on availability of interference in connecting wires, further, continuous measurement of current in connecting wires and comparison with third reference current, and when it after some time t1 after stopping supply of current to control winding becomes less or equal to the third reference current, current supply is resumed to control winding of reed switch.
EFFECT: technical result is elimination of excess sealed reed relay from interference in its control winding and control of integrity of connecting wires, control winding and power supply.
