SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an opening and closing system for a piece of furniture (1) having at least one movable part (4) of the piece of furniture and moving fittings. The opening and closing system has an ejector device (10) with a tensioned mechanical energy storage device and a tensioning device for charging the mechanical energy storage device, the tensioning device is designed to receive energy from an electric energy storage device, and the ejector device (10) is designed to move the movable part of the piece of furniture to a partially open position when the mechanical energy storage device is unlocked. The opening and closing system is characterized in that the moving fittings have a return device and a damping device designed to move with damping the movable part (4) of the piece of furniture from an additional partially open position located within a predetermined area of action to a closed position, at the same time, the partially open position of the movable part (4) of the piece of furniture, achieved by means of the ejector device (10), is located within the specified area of operation of the return device. The invention also relates to the principle of work of such an opening and closing system.
