FIELD: railways.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the manufacture of a rail. Steel is poured to obtain a semi-finished product. Steel contains 0,20% ≤ С ≤ 0,60%, 1,0% ≤ Si ≤ 2,0%, 0,60% ≤ Mn ≤ 1,60% and 0,5 ≤ Сr ≤ 2,2%, 0,01% ≤ Mo ≤ 0,3%, optionally 0,01% ≤ V ≤ 0,30%, the remainder being Fe and impurities. Then hot rolling of the semi-finished product is carried out to obtain a hot-rolled semi-finished product having a rail profile and including a head and cooling the head to a cooling stop temperature comprised within the range between 200°C and 520°C. The head is held in a temperature range within the range between 300°C and 520°C for a holding time of 12 minutes and the hot-rolled semi-finished product is cooled to room temperature to obtain a rail.
EFFECT: a rail having rolling contact fatigue resistance and wear resistance is produced.
