FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a system for assessing the impact of software under study on the functionality of a certain configuration of an industrial automation system (hereinafter – IAS). In the method, samples of software under study are taken using a software selection tool, which is potentially capable of damaging the functioning of IAS; testing is carried out using a test stand of the impact of at least one selected sample of software under study on a certain IAS configuration to identify the impact of selected software samples on a certain IAS configuration, where the identification of the impact is carried out using an availability monitoring tool and at least causes and events leading to a malfunction of a specific IAS configuration are included, while a specific IAS configuration includes at least components of an industrial system simulated on the test stand, where testing includes monitoring of requests and responses between components of a certain IAS configuration; an analysis of all identified causes and events leading to the malfunction of a certain IAS configuration is performed using an impact assessment tool, simulated on a test bench; the impact of selected software samples is assessed using the impact assessment tool by determining the degree of impact of identified causes and events leading to the malfunction on a certain IAS configuration, where the degree of impact indicates damage to the tested IAS configuration.
EFFECT: determining the impact of software under study on the functionality of a certain configuration of the industrial automation system.
