SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the mining industry, and in particular to methods for underground mining of steeply dipping powerful ore bodies. The method includes dividing the ore body along strike into mining blocks, each of which consists of a treatment chamber, a ceiling and an inter-chamber pillar (ICP), carrying out preparatory grooved workings, excavating chamber reserves with subsequent excavation of the ceiling and areal bilateral ore extraction, after which the excavation is performed stocks of the ICP by forming a cutting chamber of increased height in the lower part of the ICP, chipping of the ore section in the clamp, subsequent partial double-sided ore tapping and after clearing all sections of the main double-sided ore tapping over the entire bottom area of ​​the ICP. The bottom of the ICP is located below the soil of the bottom of the treatment chamber at the height of the bottom of the ICP, determined by a mathematical formula.

EFFECT: improving ore recovery from the mining block, improving the safety of cleaning operations in the mining block and increasing the intensity of ore production during the development of steeply dipping thick ore bodies.
