SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of steelmaking manufacture and can be used for maintaining a preset electrical mode of operation of arc steel furnaces. The control system comprises a control parameter calculation unit, a phase voltage sensor, phase electric arc current sensors, a specific electricity consumption calculation unit, a control parameter setting matrix unit, a calculation unit, an averaging unit, a mode selection unit, an arc voltage calculation unit, a second level control unit associated with the on-load tap-changer of the reactor and the on-load tap-changer of the furnace transformer, and a first level control unit, the output whereof is connected to a servo valve installed in the line for supplying working fluid into the piston cavity of the hydraulic cylinder for lifting the electrode holder of the furnace. The system therein ensures timely switching of the stages of the furnace transformer, the reactor, and the parameters of the working melting profile in accordance with the actual technological process occurring in the bath of the furnace.

EFFECT: use of the invention provides a possibility of reducing the specific consumption of electricity and electrodes.
