SUBSTANCE: use: in the field of electrical engineering for monitoring and diagnostics of electrical equipment and electric power units of various voltage classes. The technical result is achieved due to the execution of the function of analysing the rate of growth of the concentration of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, combustible gases and gas mixtures, as well as gases formed in the smouldering or burning of insulation of electrical wiring, e.g., hydrogen, in electrical equipment. The apparatus comprises additional settings for triggering the alarm when the corresponding indicators are exceeded, starting bodies, logic elements "AND", logic elements "OR", a signalling organ signalling of the actuation of the starting bodies, a second computing unit connected to the PROM module and configured to execute an algorithm for calculating the rate of growth of the concentration of controlled gases within a fixed time interval, a third computing unit configured to compare the sequence and duration of action of the corresponding starting bodies, calculate and deactivate the electrical unit or part thereof, an additional executive body deactivating the electrical unit or part thereof.
