FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polymer complex of boron based on polyvinyl alcohol and boric acid or a salt thereof, constituting a liquid solution with a stoichiometry of composition: 1 boron atom per 6 carbon atoms. The polymer complex is produced by mixing an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol with a concentration of less than 2 wt.% with an aqueous solution of boric acid or a salt thereof.
EFFECT: production of a liquid homogeneous composition of a polyvinyl alcohol complex with boric acid or a salt thereof with the maximum possible content of boron therein, equal to 1 boron atom per 6 carbon atoms, usable in manufacturing materials capable of absorbing neutron emission, materials acting as the basis for luminophors, for manufacturing antiseptics, biocidal coatings, adhesives, and binders in composite materials.
