FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an installation for induction melting of metals. The installation consists of an induction furnace with a single-phase inductor shunted by a compensating capacitor. A frequency converter with a current inverter containing two groups of valves connected in parallel connected through a filter choke to the DC terminals of the rectifier, each group consisting of two series-connected valves, the common terminals of which are connected to an inductor made in the form of sections shunted with additional compensating capacitors, and the inverter is equipped with additional groups of series-connected valves, the common terminals of which are connected to the common terminals of the inductor sections.

EFFECT: single-loop circulation of liquid metal in the working volume of the crucible and its effective mixing are ensured due to the induction of electrodynamic forces in the melt directed along the axis of the crucible and the formation of a traveling wave of electromagnetic pressure created by radial electrodynamic forces; the high efficiency of melt mixing ensures the acceleration of metal processing processes and the improvement of the quality of the resulting alloys.
