SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to means and methods for protecting plants from pests. The insecticide of contact action contains maltodextrin with a mass fraction of reducing substances of 10-25% as an active substance, a system of surface-active substances (surfactants), including alkylamine carboxylate and diethylamide of coconut oil fatty acids in a ratio of 1:10 to 10:1, preservative potassium sorbate and solvent water, with the following ratio of initial components (%): maltodextrin - 50-85, surfactant system - 4-7, preservative - 0.02-0.05, solvent - the rest. A contact insecticide is used in a method for controlling insect pests on agricultural, fruit and berry and ornamental plants, where an aqueous solution of a contact insecticide at a concentration of 25-50 ml per 1 liter of water is applied to the treated plants by spraying, while the insecticide consumption is 1 -10 l per 10 m2, and the treatment of plants is carried out once or repeatedly with repetition in 4-7 days during the period of active vegetation and fruiting.

EFFECT: proposed insecticide of contact action is characterized by high biological efficiency, not inferior to known chemical analogues, does not cause stable immunity in insect pests, is non-toxic in relation to non-target biological objects, including humans, is suitable for use both indoors and outdoors, does not requires special storage and transportation conditions.
