FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, in particular to methods for protecting DC linear voltage regulators from overload and short circuit. The method consists in the fact that the protection circuit uses two feedback loops: on the output current and on the output voltage with their own thresholds, as a result of which it is possible to organize the operation of the protection in such a way that, in case of overcurrent, it first smoothly limits the current by reducing the conductivity control element, and then, if the output voltage drops below an acceptable threshold level, a voltage feedback loop comes into operation and puts the control element into an economical mode with low power consumption.
EFFECT: reduction of heat losses and increase in the reliability of current protection of linear DC voltage stabilizers.
