SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of space technology and can be used in the development of a mode for restoring the orbital orientation of a spacecraft from an arbitrary undirected position using a star sensor (SS). To restore the orientation of the spacecraft, the SS is turned off for the entire period of the orientation restoration time, its readings are replaced with forecast values, which are obtained by integrating the corresponding Poisson equation.

EFFECT: increase in accuracy is achieved in the process of restoring the orientation of the spacecraft and eliminating a malfunction in the operation of SS.
