SUBSTANCE: processing element of a drill string used to treat a lost circulation zone is claimed, comprising a communication device configured to receive an external communication; an internal fluid conduit configured to transfer the well fluid through the processing element of the drill string; an internal space of the processing element of the drill string located between the outer surface of the element of the drill string and the internal fluid pipeline; and a radiation source configured to generate at least one form of radiation in the well fluid. Also disclosed is a method for treating a mud loss area during a well drilling program.
EFFECT: improved operational safety, increased uptime for drilling equipment and increased efficiency of preventing loss of drilling fluid in the wellbore.
