FIELD: laser technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used as a beam diameter expander used in laser process equipment. An achromatic laser beam expander with continuously variable magnification includes three optically coupled components separated by air gaps. The first component comprises the first lens and is movable along the optical axis relative to the stationary second component comprising the second lens, the third component comprises the third lens and the biconvex fourth lens and is also movable along the optical axis relative to the second component. The first lens of the first component is made in the form of a positive meniscus facing the convex surface to the emitter, the second lens of the second component is biconcave with the same radii, the third lens of the third component is biconcave, the first, second and fourth lenses are made of optical glass with nd =1.439 and υd =94.7, and the third lens is made of optical glass with nd =1.642 and υd =58.4, where nd and υd are the refractive indices and Abbe numbers of the glasses for line d, respectively.
EFFECT: increasing the operating spectral range of the expander, increasing the diameter of the input beam, expanding the magnification range and increasing the degree of aberration correction.
