FIELD: video signal coding and decoding.
SUBSTANCE: method for decoding images is proposed, which includes the following steps: obtaining a candidate for merging the current block from a neighbouring block of the current block; adding the resulting merge candidate to the list of merge candidates; when the number of merge candidates previously added to the merge candidate list is less than a threshold value, adding at least one prediction region merge candidate included in the prediction region motion information table to the merge candidate list; obtaining information about the movement of the current block based on the list of merger candidates; and performing motion compensation on the current block based on the received motion information.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of coding.
