FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the devices for determining cross-country ability of construction equipment in rough terrain. The device for automatically determining the depth of the track comprises a track depth sensor made in the form of towed rods with skis. The device comprises three rods, each of which has, on the one hand, a sliding surface in the form of a ski, resting under its own weight on the ground, and on the other hand, the rods are attached to encoders that are fixedly placed on a beam fastened by means of attachment to the axle of the rear axle of the machine, and when the mutual deviation of the right and left rods relative to the middle rod during the movement of the machine, the encoders have the ability to determine the magnitude of the mutual deviation of the rods. The encoders are connected by means of electrical wires to the interface module, which generates a signal transmitted via electrical wires to the interface of the electronic computer, informing the crew with numerical values about the characteristics of the investigated soil of rough terrain.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement, increased reliability of the design of the device while ensuring automation of the process of measuring the depth of the rut in rough terrain for subsequent passage of the construction equipment.
