FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: bridge covering is made of vertical load-bearing wooden elements installed with their end part on the waterproofing layer in dense rows in the transverse and longitudinal directions over the entire area of the bridge. The covering is limited on the sides by wheel guards laid symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the bridge and connected to the cross members. Vertical load-bearing wooden elements made of pine and larch have a square cross-section with a ratio of height to transverse dimensions of 1:2, and their edges are chamfered at an angle of 45 degrees. The chamfers of the vertical load-bearing elements create an upper drainage network of triangular cross-section on the upper plane; on the lower plane - a lower drainage network similar to the upper one. The chamfers of the vertical ribs form a common permeable surface of the bridge roadway with square-section openings - a vertical drainage system to ensure water drainage from the upper network, the vertical drainage system and the lower drainage network due to gravity flow of the water. In the lower part of the wheel fenders, transverse cavities are created, the axes of which coincide with the transverse channels of the lower transverse drainage network and create its continuation. The cross-sectional area of the cavities is larger than the transverse channels of the lower drainage system, which eliminates the backwater of the drained water.
EFFECT: creation of favourable operating conditions for wood elements by reducing the time of their contact with external moisture from rain and its removal along the waterproofing layer through the cavities of the wheel guards, increasing the service life of the bridge covering.
