METHOD FOR SYNTHESIS OF THERMOPLASTIC POLYESTER ELASTOMERS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C08G63/66 

FIELD: thermoplastic polyester elastomers.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a technology for producing thermoplastic polyester elastomers by synthesis, consisting of macromolecules with a block copolymer structure, including “rigid” blocks based on polybutylene terephthalate and “elastic” blocks based on polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) and can be used at industrial enterprises in production of polyester thermoplastics with specified consumer properties. The method for synthesis of thermoplastic polyester elastomers includes loading initial components into a reactor, transesterification and subsequent polycondensation of the resulting oligoproducts, wherein the synthesis is carried out in two stages; at the first stage, during the loading process, dimethyl terephthalic acid (DMT) 1,-butadinol (BD), polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), tetrabutoxytitanium catalyst and thermostabilizer ADK STAB AO-60 are introduced in calculated quantities, and PTMEG is introduced as a mixture combining components with different molecular weights in the following molar ratios: DMT: ΣGlycols = 1:1.85; BD: ΣPTMEG = (8.5-11.75):1; BD: PTMEG₂₀₀₀ : PTMEG₁₀₀₀ = (28.1:2.2:1) - (43.8:2.7:1), then the transesterification stage is carried out, followed by the polycondensation stage.

EFFECT: improving the quality of the resulting thermoplastic polyester elastomer by implementing the ability to adjust the physicochemical properties of the polyester in the process depending on the combination of “hard” and “elastic” blocks in the polymer structure to provide the necessary consumer properties to the finished product while simplifying the method.
