Method of controlling fuel consumption in a combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine with contamination of a fuel metering unit consists in the fact that temperature and air pressure at the engine inlet, engine rotor speed, air pressure behind the engine compressor are measured, Measured parameters are used to calculate preset fuel flow rate in combustion chamber to measure actual flow rate of fuel fed into combustion chamber. In addition, the difference between the specified and actual fuel consumption is calculated, when the difference in advance of the specified limit value (ΔGt+Rgt) kg/h is exceeded, where ΔGt is the nominal value of the limit difference between the specified and actual fuel consumption, kg/h; Rgt is adjustment of limit value of difference between preset and actual fuel consumption, kg/h; to restore flow rate characteristic of standard fuel metering unit, complete redistribution of fuel is performed from the main line of fuel dosing into standby line with preset rate (dGt/dt+Rdgt) kg/h/s, where dG/dt is the nominal rate of change of fuel consumption, kg/h/s; Rdgt is the fuel redistribution rate value adjustment, kg/h/s, until the standard fuel metering unit is closed for the preset time T seconds, wherein the GTE operation mode maintenance is performed by means of the reserve metering unit, after the time T seconds the fuel from the reserve line is redistributed to the main fuel supply line with the rate (dGt/dt+Rdgt) kg/h/s, wherein GTE mode is maintained by standard fuel metering unit with restored flow rate.
