SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of investigating properties of construction materials. Disclosed is a method of determining the grade of concrete by frost resistance, which includes making an even number of control samples of concrete with a notch over the entire width of the sample in the lower zone; maintenance of control samples to brand age under normal conditions; water saturation of control samples in three consecutive stages; testing the first half of the samples to determine the stress intensity factor Kc before freezing; freezing the second half of the samples to a temperature of -50 °C followed by thawing; testing the second half of the reference samples to determine the stress intensity factor Kc(f) after one freezing cycle; calculation of stress intensity factor change; calculation of concrete grade by frost resistance.
EFFECT: invention provides rapid determination of the grade of concrete by frost resistance for control samples that are of grade age.
