FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: to produce tail-end cutting tools they after cutting and tail-end parts blanks machining exercise the blanks hardening according to the blanks optional modes. Then cutting part blank double-stepped tempering is exercised. Blanks are welded and tempering to remove tension is exercised according to mode of tempering for discrete firm tool material. Drilling bits of 8 mm diameter and 400 mm length, Morse cone 2 were produced. Cutting part material was P6M5 steel, tail and part material was 40 % steel. Cutting part hardening was exercised under temperature of 1220 C and tail-end part hardening as exercised under temperature of 840 C. Double-stepped tempering of dispersive hardening was carried out under temperature of 560 C. They use diffusive welding under sky. After welding and tempering tools were polished and tightened. EFFECT: method is used in mechanical engineering.
