FIELD: geophysics. SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring horizontal components of electric E and magnetic H fields, and vertical component of magnetic field HZ in the base center. Then preliminary determination is made in the base center of magnetotelluric impedance Zr= E/H, E/H, reference value of magnetic parameter Wr= HZ/H.. The next step is to carry out synchronous registration of magnetotelluric field in the base and field centers at times of simultaneous measurement with preset errors of the equality of current W and reference Wr values of magnetic parameter as well as the equality of current Z and reference Zr values of impedance in the base center. Frequency characteristics of magnetotelluric parameters are determined by measurements used as a basis for judging about geoelectric section. The invention makes it possible to rule out registration of magnetotelluric variations at a high noise level for the instances of irregular distribution of electric and magnetic field interferences on the explored territory. EFFECT: higher level of interference protection.
