FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: device has feeding conveyor 2, catching conveyor 3 located after feeding conveyor 2 and transfer device placed between conveyors. Transfer device is made in form of distributing pipe 4 communicating with compressed air source and placed square to direction of movement of leather 1. Distributing pipe 4 has drive to turn pipe relative to its longitudinal axis, drive control 5 and curved outlet pipes 6 with nozzles 7 at ends and communicating with space of distributing pipe 4. Leather 1 is moved to feeding conveyor 2. Front edge of leather 1 is separated in zone of feeding conveyor return member owing to pneumatic curtain formed by pulsed delivering of compressed air from nozzle 7 through outlet pipes 6 under front edge of leather 1. Separated front edge of leather lies on outlet pipes 6. With the latter being turned by drive, air delivery from nozzles 7 is cut off, and front edge of leather 1 is placed on catching conveyor 3 which conveys leather 1.
