FIELD: a product for the production of synthetic rubber. SUBSTANCE: Reagent 1: isobutylene-containing stock. Reagent 2: an aqueous solution of formaldehyde. Reaction conditions: the process is carried out to obtain an isobutylene conversion to 30-88% at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of an acid catalyst to obtain methyl dioxane and a methylal-methanol fraction and a fraction of unreacted hydrocarbons is reacted with methanol in the presence of an acid catalyst at 50-150 C to 90-99.5% conversion of isobutylene to subsequently recover methyl tert-butyl ester. EFFECT: more economical process and additional recovery of methyl tert-butyl ester. 1 tbl
