FIELD: photographic materials and processes. SUBSTANCE: method consists in introducing, in chemical ripening stage, (65- 200)γ mol (always per 1 mol of silver halide) of 3,3'-•10-6- sulfopropyl-9-aminothiacarbocyaninebetaine, then, additionally, (2.4- 4.8)•10-5 mol of sodium 2-mercaptobenzimidazol-6-sufonate, and, as wetting agent, sodium salt of sulfosuccinic acid diester with hydroxyethylated isododecyl and isoamyl alcohols is used in quantity (0.625-1.87)•10-3. The thus prepared emulsion may be utilized when manufacturing black-and-white photographic materials for amateur and professional photography and cinematography. EFFECT: improved quality of photographic material. 1 tbl
