FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: yacht cord is comprised of three layers, viz. , inner, intermediate and outer ones. Inner layer is made of threads or braids woven parallel, or at a small angle, to one another, and laid along the cord axis; intermediate layer consists of interwoven threads of different linear density and having irregular surface; and outer layer is made of thick and loose interwoven threads. Outer layer fits tightly around the two other layers. All three layers are made of hydrophobic synthetic threads. Difference between elongations of inner and intermediate layers is 2-5% due to processing in 3-10% of intermediate layer threads during weaving. Outer and intermediate layers are formed by interweaving threads with smooth and nappy surfaces. Relation of mass of smooth threads in outer layer and mass of threads with nappy surface in intermediate layer is 0.1-0.4 the mass of threads in layer. Mass of outer and inner layers is 10-70% and mass of intermediate layer is 20-80% of cord mass. Outer and inner layers of cord feature high adhesion to each other.
