FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: muffler has housing with outlet branches and rigid flaps hinge-connected on horizontal axles i outlet branches. Design includes retracting extension springs connected with upper edge of flaps by levers brought out beyond limits of outlet branch upper cut plane. In initial position upper cut of flaps is arranged at level of outlet branch cut and it thrusts against branch wall opposite to horizontal axles. Flap forms, together with opposite wall of branch, a convergence angle not exceeding 25 degrees. Labyrinth seals in form of angle pieces are installed under flap axles. EFFECT: enhanced performance owing to stabilization of gas velocity over entire engine power range. 3 cl, 2 dwg
