FIELD: thermal-to-mechanical energy conversion. SUBSTANCE: device has turntable mounting cylinders with movable bottoms set in motion by means of pushers secured on casing; it also has hole, pump communicating with hole and cylinders through pipelines, and header that functions as hydraulic accumulator. For implementing proposed method cylinders are filled with primary liquid (for example, water) whose melting point is within working temperature range and primary liquid is cooled down. As primary liquid expands during its hardening, it displaces piston within cylinder which forces secondary liquid (for example, tosol A-65), whose melting point is below working temperature range, into hydraulic motor followed by draw-down of secondary liquid energy in hydraulic motor, melting of primary liquid in external heat exchanger-hole and return of liquid into cylinder. EFFECT: improved power capacity, efficiency, facilitated maintenance, environmentally friendly operation. 2 cl, 1 dwg
