FIELD: aircraft engineering. SUBSTANCE: rivet has a rod provided with manufactured head 2 and dummy axial opening 3. Depth of opening 3 is equal to (0.8-1.3)*d and diameter (0.72- 0.8)*d, where d is a nominal diameter of the rivet rod. The tool for setting the rivet has pressing 4 and squeezing 5 punches. Punch 5 has axial opening 6 with conical ring bore 7 and provided with spring-loaded rod 9 having a part, which is projected above face 8, and received in opening 6. When stack is riveted a corrugated manufactured head is formed providing riveting without defects. When squeezing by the punch is carried out during the process of forming the manufactured head clinching the rod part of the rivet and radial tension is provided. The spring-loaded rod, whose projecting part is received within the dummy opening, provides seal and uniform abutting the head against the stack.
