FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: shutoff valve is designed to shut off the pipe string in the well below the inserted pump after the latter is extracted from the well. In the shutoff valve, using a gate and a gate drive, the gate is made in the form of two movable relative to each other conjugated branch pipes with radial holes; one of the branch pipes is stopped up and connected with the pipe string, and the other is connected with the gate drive, his holes are located over the holes of the first branch pipe at a distance equal to the travel. In addition the valve has a bush installed in the branch pipe connected with the pipe string and having two rows of holes receiving movable members that interact with the shoulder made in the branch pipe and shoulder made on the rod. The given valve prevents the influence of pressure differential on its serviceability and the influence of the gate drive on the fit sealing of the inserted pump; the conditions of reliable engagement of drive with the gate are provided in the process of valve change-over.
